If anyone needs to try to save money, it’s me. I’m sure that many families are in the same situation, with the economy as bad as it is. We live on a limited budget and I always seem to go overboard when I shop for groceries. That’s right, groceries – food. The prices are increasing like crazy and our food bill has almost doubled in the last five years, whereas salaries have not.

I was about to prepare my shopping list and am determined to save some money this time. I’m not good at using/finding coupons at all. Sure, I clip coupons from our local (free) magazines and store ads, but I very rarely find any good ones. I also go online and look for them on coupons.com, and other coupon sites. But, again, I hardly ever find coupons for products that I normally buy. I actually spend more than usual by buying additional items just so I can use the coupons! Then, I’m lucky if I remember to use them when I go through the grocery line.

Today, I found something pretty exciting, at least I was excited. I’m just sorry it took me over a year and a half to find out about it. I shop at Kroger. We didn’t have Kroger in South Florida where I moved from, but it’s very similar to Albertson’s. In fact, Albertson’s owns Kroger, or the other way around. When I first moved to Knoxville, Kroger accepted my Albertson’s card. I finally realized I was here for good, so I got my own Kroger Plus card.

Anyway, I came across the following site: Coupons and Freebies Mom. Among the list was Kroger Coupon Resources, which led to Kroger E-Coupons Website Link.

So, I went to Kroger’s site. I do this almost every week to check the weekly ads. But I never noticed the section about digital coupons. I didn’t realize what they were. I couldn’t believe it! I feel so dumb.

What are digital coupons you might ask? Well, they are not the regular printable manufacturer coupons, and they are not items in the regular weekly store ads. At Kroger, they are coupons that can be downloaded and saved on your Kroger Plus Card. They are items that have longer expiration dates. Some expire within a couple of weeks, but others expire later in the year. They’re great because I found many items that I normally buy, and I don’t have to remember to use them. Just use your Kroger Plus card and the coupons will be used when those products are purchased. You can go online and monitor the coupon status, coupons still active, and those that have expired.

Joining is easy. There are two selections: 1) if you have a Kroger Plus Card and 2) you can get started without a Kroger card. I happen to shop at Kroger, so I have a Kroger Plus Card.

After joining and activating your account, sign in and click the tab, Coupons. You can get your weekly ads and create your shopping list here, too.

Then, go through the coupon pages (there’s lots). Select up to 150 coupons. *They will be ready for use on your card one hour after loading.

I haven’t had a chance to research other grocery stores, but check out your store online and see if they have digital coupons. If you find other stores do this with their store cards, please comment so others will know. Thank you!

The following two tabs change content below.
I created this blog just so I could write about anything and everything that comes to mind, whatever I feel like saying, whenever I feel like posting. This is not a Christian-only site or a political board filled with propaganda and rhetoric. I want my blog to be fun and interesting, offering people helpful tips and information, as well as thoughtful and entertaining content. Thanks for visiting!
